Arnaldian's neoconcrete rhetoric: the “ânsia mansa” of a verbivocovisual /saying- doing

ABSTRACT

The present work aims to analyze the rhetorical strategies that the author-creator Arnaldo Antunes uses as authorial and generic style in his architectonics, understood as metalinguistic and verbivocovisual. To this end, it focuses on the interpretation of “ânsia mansa.” This study is grounded in Bakhtinian philosophy of language (Bakhtin, 1981, 2010, 2011, 2016; Medviédev, 2012; Volóchinov, 2017, 2019), since it considers (trans)linguistic elements as foundational to Arnaldo Antunes’ poetics for the construction of meaning and generic movency. Through the dialectical-dialogical method (Paula L, Figueiredo, Paula S, 2011; Di Fanti, Paula, Ponzio, 2020; Paula, Di Fanti, Ponzio, Paschoal, 2020), this reflection seeks to understand the rhetorical-argumentative process of the author-creator, based on the analyzed poem. The hypothesis is corroboraled by the results obtained: Antunes’ poetics can be regarded as a neoconcrete verbivocovisual exemplar, as it is characterized both by the exploration of the word to its fullest verbivocovisual potential and by the realization of the undertaking proposed by the author-creator, a responsive dialogical interaction between utterances and genres, marked by a distinctive metalinguistic concern characteristic of his authorial style (his poetics). Thus, by thinking about the Antunes’ /saying-doing/, it is possible to reflect on a conception of language and poetry, which justifies the study undertaken, focused on the ethical-aesthetic act of language.
