Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present a didactic proposal on the recurrence of double negation in Brazilian Portuguese, with the aim of making students reflect that our language encompasses various written and oral modalities, which demonstrate its heterogeneity and reflect on the linguistic innovations that manifest themselves in everyday life. In this way, we reflect on the course of Brazilian Portuguese, listing some characteristics until we reach our object of analysis: double negation. Next, we present an analysis of the occurrences of double negation in social media, including Whatsapp, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), followed by a proposal for an a
ctivity aimed at analyzing this linguistic fact. As a result, we have come to the conclusion that double negation is a recurring linguistic fact in everyday life and that is why it is necessary to work on this content in the classroom, in order to stimulate students' linguistic awareness.
