n. 3 - 2025 - New bonds in language teaching practices: interfaces between linguistic theory and teaching practice.

2024-04-20

Call for Letras Raras Journal

This issue of Letras Raras will be dedicated to studies that aim to provide an overview of the several possible interfaces between theoretical linguistic studies and language teaching. It is of great value that this knowledge from related areas - but not necessarily interconnected - is combined to guarantee a reflective and effective language teaching. This interface may provide a great development of language professionals - active or in training, enabling them to give new meaning to the traditional ways of teaching languages, whatever it may be.

We invite contributions from researchers in the areas of first language or foreign/additional language teaching, teacher training, applied linguistics, linguistic theory, among others. We accept papers, teaching sequences, or experience reports.

Suggested topics (non-exhaustive list):

Reflective teaching/learning of L1.

Reflective L2 teaching/learning.

Connecting teaching practices from L2 classes to L1 classes, and vice versa.

L1 teachers training.

L2 teachers training.

The interface between the results of academic research and language teaching/learning.

Presentation of L1 and/or L2 usage-based teaching approaches, centered on contextualization of linguistic elements, which leads the student to a reflective attitude.

Guidelines establishment concerning the competencies intended to be developed in language teaching/learning, conceived through critical reflection that links linguistic theories and teaching.
