APPROPRIATIONS, OCCUPATIONS AND RESISTANCE IN PUBLIC SPACE
IN THE POST-PANDEMIC CONTEXT
Abstract
The debate about public space in the contemporary context highlights several conflicts regarding the production of the city, from the production of laws, the morphological conformation, the appropriation by practitioners and users of the space. In this research, we propose to analyze and understand the transformations in socio-spatial dynamics linked to public spaces in the historic center of the city of Uberaba, MG, as an element of value. By adopting the rhizomatic point of view (Deleuze and Guattari, 1995) to map reality, we seek to understand how the dynamics of flows, paths and encounters that street vendors trace on their way to the center and build relationships with the city's material cultural heritage . We therefore seek to debate the immaterial and symbolic relationships that permeate the uses and appropriations of public spaces in the center of Uberaba. These sellers appropriate public space, creating territories, redefining uses, and consuming the area according to their desires.
