HOUSE OF THE BARÃO DE GURGUÉIA IN TERESINA – PI
CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT ITS CONSERVATION STATUS
Abstract
This article deals with an analysis of a building of historical relevance for the city of Teresina, capital of the Brazilian state of Piauí, known as “Casa do Barão de Gurguéia”. With eclectic characteristics, the building in question is part of the architectural complex erected in the first decades of construction of the city, a city that was born planned, dating from the mid-nineteenth century. The analysis made of the building aims to contribute with information about the monument that is at risk, because it is unused and therefore subject to the actions of time. By looking at this important building, we intend to contribute to its preservation and permanence as a monument that is part of the built urban complex of the capital of Piauí.
