THE SURFACE DESIGN AND ITS APPLICATIONS IN THE NEW RAILWAY STATION OF CAMPINA GRANDE-PB
Abstract
The article proposes to carry out a study on the surface design of two striking elements that make up the main façade of the building that housed the Railway Yard Station of the New Station of the city of Campina Grande, in the agreste of Paraíba. The two elements are a polychrome ceramic artistic panel, and an iron-worked grating, which are part of the composition of the building that has Art Deco style. Unfortunately, the work is in a precarious state of conservation due to the abandonment of the public power to preserve it, as well as the acts of vandalism carried out by people without heritage education, who do not value cultural assets. It is justified to bring up such a discussion, because the compositional elements that are seen as "surface design", make up the set of attributes that value the building, with the need to document and study them, as one of the initial steps of its preservation.
