EXPERIÊNCIAS DE LEITURA NO ENSINO SUPERIOR COM O CONTO “VOZ” DE JARID ARRAES

Abstract

This work aims to present a proposal for reading the short story “Voz”, written by Brazilian author Jarid Arraes and published in her first book of short stories Redemoinho em dia hot (2019), based on teaching experiences developed in the training of literature teachers in the course of Letters. The narrative portrays the experience of a trans woman named Janaína. Through a reflective, oral and collective reading, we discussed the space of invisibility and silencing in which transgender people are located in our society, and the need for, after reading the story, teachers to be able to expand this debate to the basic education classrooms. As bell hooks (2013) highlights, in addition to wanting to listen to each other, we need to legitimize the existence of this other person who, without having to meet our expectations, can be present simply by being who they are. When we approach the story in the classroom, we realize that the narrative is imbued with a realism that denotes abuse, violence and trauma that silence transsexual and transvestite women as a result of patriarchy, machismo and sexism (Nascimento, 2021). Therefore, when reading the story constructed by Jarid Arraes, we recognize the importance of contemporary literature produced by women as an object of effective teaching in confronting issues marked as fracturing, among which are the themes of gender and sexuality exposed in the writer's plot. Thus, we lead teacher-readers to become more sensitive to the multiple voices marginalized in our literature.
