THE LEARNING BY DOING
RESIGNIFYING TEACHING PRACTICES THROUGH INTERNSHIP IN PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE

This report presents reflections on the importance of the Mandatory Supervised Internship (ESO) for teacher training. Observation and conducting practices were carried out in two 6th grade classes at a public school in Serra Talhada, state of Pernambuco. The description of these activities details the methods used by the supervising teacher in her classes, and, based on this study, the elaboration of didactic materials and lesson plans to be carried out during the period of regency. The theoretical basis of this work is based on the methodology of Learning by doing by John Dewey (1959), in which the process of learning by doing is overestimated in carrying out the proposed activities, such as reading and linguistic analysis of the fable “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1987), in addition to textual productions based on the aforementioned work. During the report, we present all the pros and cons of this practice, and above all, the lessons learned from this experience.
