The research reports the implementation of the Lutheran University of Brazil – ULBRA, in the State of Tocantins and the organization of the first group of Lutherans in the State. The period focused on covers the years 1992 to 1997, the context of the emergence of the Martinho Lutero Educational Center, the Lutheran Institute of Higher Education (current Centro Universitário Luterano de Palmas - CEULP/ULBRA) and the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation Christ the Redeemer. The research took place in the bibliographic field on European Protestantism/Lutheranism, documents, and interviews with a semi-structured script with characters who participated in Lutheranism in Tocantins.
