This photographic essay brings together images taken during a field trip to the cities of Ouro Preto and Tiradentes, as part of the research activities for a Master's degree in Architecture and Urbanism. The work is part of a project investigating the musealization processes of the historical cities of Minas Gerais, seeking to understand how heritage, tourism, and contemporary dynamics influence the preservation, interpretation, and experience of these urban spaces.
More than just recording monuments or consecrated landmarks of colonial architecture, the photographs gathered in this essay seek to capture fragments of urban daily life: winding streets, narrow alleys, unexpected perspectives between rooftops and churches, constructive details, and landscape views that reveal the historical layers of these cities. These images are constructed from walking and attentive observation, seeking to highlight the relationships between architecture, public space, and daily life.
In this sense, the photographs also function as a visual field diary. They accompany the research process, recording moments of pause between walks, observations, and notes, and reveal the perspective of a researcher who approaches the city not only as an object of study, but as a lived experience. By sharing these records, the essay seeks to offer a brief glimpse of the days spent in two of the most emblematic historical cities of Minas Gerais, where heritage, memory, and daily life continuously intertwine in the urban space.
