THE VARIOUS ATTEMPTS TO REVITALIZE THE SPACE OVER DECADES
ANTIGA USINA BELTRÃO/ FÁBRICA TACARUNA
Abstract
The text will focus on the industrial complex of the former Usina Beltrão (1895), located at Av. Agamenon Magalhães, s/n, in the neighborhood of Campo Grande, on the border between the municipalities of Recife and Olinda, which from 1924 onwards, was renamed Fábrica Tacaruna, and which operated until 1992, when it entered the process of abandonment, despite several attempts by the Government of the State of Pernambuco, to reuse the space, as will be seen here. It will be exposed through the analysis of the architectural dimensions (Afonso, 2019), information that may subsidize deeper studies to be developed by researchers and professionals who stop to intervene in this space, in order to give a new use to this large structure, which, unfortunately, is in a precarious state of conservation, despite being located in an urban area of great real estate value.
