Abstract

Abstract: In the book O Sol na Cabeça (2018), by Geovani Martins, there are the short stories that make up the object of analysis of the present study: “O rabisco” and “Roleta Russa”. The theme addressed in both is paternity, and it is therefore the main aspect observed here, given the following objectives: 1) To describe the elements that characterize the father figure; 2) To compare the similarities and differences between the father characters; 3) To analyze the paternal performance of the characters from a feminist perspective. This qualitative research was developed based on the bibliographic method according to Gil (2002). The agenda of parenthood present in the narratives is directly related to gender issues from a socio-historical point of view, therefore, the notes of Judith Butler (1988) and Bell Hooks (2018) and (2019) were used. The corpus of this work invites the reader to think about life in peripheral urban contexts and the consequences arising from this socialization in parental performance, leading the reader to reflect on the social roles of gender and their impact through the literary text.
