Abstract

The presence of art can contribute to re-signifying modernist houses, transforming them into dynamic spaces of memory and authenticity. In the context of Atelier Mundurucus, in Belém do Pará, created by Dina Oliveira, the adaptation of a modern residence into an artistic space exemplifies how architecture can be reinterpreted to strengthen cultural heritage and collective memory. The research shows that aesthetic expression not only revitalizes built structures but also brings them closer to contemporary experiences, establishing temporal connections between heritage and modernity. The Atelier materializes this integration between historical legacy and visual language, where the memory of home intertwines with Dina’s creative practice, allowing a reflection on social bonds and identity rootedness. This process of reconfiguration represents a way to keep modernist residential architecture alive, enriching it with new meanings and fostering dialogues about ways of life and representations.
