HEADQUARTERS OF CAU-RO, COUNCIL OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBANISM, IN THE CAIARI NEIGHBORHOOD IN PORTO VELHO-RONDÔNIA
PROPOSAL FOR REQUALIFICATION INTO A RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURAL ENSEMBLE UNIT OF THE MADEIRA MAMORÉ RAILROAD COMPANY.
Abstract
The building where the headquarters of the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of Rondônia now operates is part of an architectural group of houses built by the administration of the Madeira Mamoré railway when it was nationalized by the Brazilian government, to serve as residences for its most senior employees. The complex was called Caiari and today it is a representative neighborhood of the initial spatial formation of the city of Porto Velho in Rondônia, presenting a gradual change in the use and occupation of urban land with the installation of more specialized services. Although the Caiari residences have not been listed as Historical Heritage, it is necessary to take a different look at any proposals for modifications to their facilities and it was with this concern in mind that CAU RO was willing to occupy one of them, requesting the Heritage Service of the Caiari Union, to which they belong, a cession of use committing to take care of the property and promote any improvements that were necessary. The building was in a poor state of conservation and underwent an initial renovation to serve as the council's headquarters from 2016 onwards. After new studies and projects, it was subjected to a careful renovation process, paying attention to the importance of the property. represents for the neighborhood, for the city and how the council needs to promote its appreciation.Downloads
