A ARQUITETURA E O CONSELHO ESCOLAR, EM CABACEIRAS/PB
Abstract
Considering the possibility of school councils’ contribution to the democratic management of schools, this research aims to analyze how such councils could contribute to the architectural design process in the local public school system. This research is based on a case study in the city of Cabaceiras, in the state of Paraíba, focusing on the EMEF Abdias Aires de Queiroz school. It is based on analyses of the built environment and interviews revealing the perceptions of school agents and members of the community involved. As a result, it found that, in the mentioned case, its school council is underutilized for the purpose of planning the built environment due to its members’ little diversity and to lack of discussion about the built environment.
