Objective:Discuss the performance of nursing in the face of the necessary reduction in cases of obstetric violence. Method:This is a descriptive-analytical study, of the experience report type, involving the determinants of the care provided by nurses in the prevention and reduction of the occurrence of obstetric violence. The place of investigation was a maternity hospital located in the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba, during one of the mandatory internships of the Nursing Course, in March 2024.Results:The nursing team stands out in terms of carrying out conducts that promote the maximization of the positive experience of the parturient woman, through humanized and welcoming practice, as well as the promotion of the woman's protagonism in the decision-making process and care practices. In addition, by guaranteeing the legal exercise of women's rights, such as the presence of a companion, skin-to-skin contact of the mother-child binomial immediately postpartum, except in exceptional clinical situations, they promote the provision of welcoming, humanized care in line with legal and scientific guidelines. Conclusion: The contribution of the professional nurse in the fight against and prevention of the occurrence of situations of obstetric violence in health establishments is evidenced, but it is still not enough because although there is promotion of humanized care based on the technical and scientific opinions that support the effectiveness of this care, there is still the necessary involvement of all professionals, regardless of the area of training, and to the assisted woman, the encouragement to fight for her rights.
