RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA: ESTRATÉGIAS PARA AUMENTAR A ADESÃO AO EXAME CITOPATOLÓGICO EM UMA UNIDADE BÁSICA DE SAÚDE

Cervical cancer is one of the most common neoplasms among women and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in Brazil. However, despite the importance of the Pap smear test, low adherence among women is observed in Primary Health Care Units. This study aimed to report strategies to increase adherence to the Pap smear test in a Primary Health Care Unit. This is a descriptive study in the form of an experience report, focusing on the development of health education actions carried out with women during the activities of Supervised Curricular Internship I. The implemented actions resulted in a significant increase in adherence to the Pap smear test within the served community. The experience demonstrated that educational initiatives are essential to increase adherence to the Pap smear test, thereby contributing to the early diagnosis of potential abnormalities and enhancing the chances of treatment and cure.
